NYC Funk: The Whitney Museum of American Art

MGF dropped by the Whitney yesterday and was surprised and inspired to find many great works of american art - particularly around the post WWII era through the 1960's and present day. I highly recommend stopping by if you can, but if you can't check out some of our favorites below.

DJ Stretch Armstrong Talks Hip Hop History

In any cultural/artistic movement there are those people who helped build the foundation. DJ Stretch Armstrong is definitely one of those people when it comes to hip hop. Serving as an influence and mentor to many underground artists who have subsequently turned mainstream, his footprint on the medium is undeniable.

As a tribute to his influence, he was recently featured in the documentary series Chevy: Sons + Daughters which takes an intimate look at the relationships between family members who have impacted the art community over the past few decades here in NYC.  The short film's screening took place at the Soho House NYC in early June, however the entire clip is now available below. Enjoy.
